My
B/C says I was born @ 1:16 am on what was to become known as the
infamous day referred to in the classic Don McLean song 'American Pie' -
'The Day The Music Died'
The plane carrying its famous R&R passengers, took off at 12:55 am in
Clear Lake, Iowa, and crashed shortly after.
Here in Chicago, my dear late mother, along with my father and two
sisters were already at the hospital after battling
the same
storm the plane took off in Iowa had come eastward to IL. I don't think
my parents paid much attention to the headlines the following day, after
all I had just been born. It was to be their stellar moment.
In years to come, as I grew to understand that day, it gave me a source
of attachment and and symbiotic relation to the infamous tragedy.
I'll never forget the three musical legends who lost their lives, as I
gained mine. It is to them, with whom I salute every year this day. The
legendary pioneers: Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and J.P Richardson (AKA:The
Big Bopper) Their contributions to the human vibration revolution
intertwines with mine at times. I feel the love in my hands often...
Salute to the fab three who brought us early rock & Roll~
**
Foot note:
IIn case anyone was wondering: Yes, I can
play the three most famous hits by the fab 3 BH, RH & BB: Peggy Sue, La
Bamba and Chantilly Lace! As a young finger tied whipper snapper, I
managed to pluck those tunes out while in my teens. Someday I may have
to pay homepage in a 3 song tribute to the boys who perished shortly
before my birth. I think I'll do just that! Next show! Warning: it may
be a while! In the meantime, I'll be working on sprucing them up for my
audience!
